Superintendent
Dallas County Schools Board of Trustees appointed Rick Sorrells as its 10th Superintendent in 2003. Rick Sorrells has lived in the Dallas area his entire life and attended school in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. After graduating from R.L. Turner High School, he attended North Texas State University where he received his B. A. degree. In 1993 he received his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Dallas and continued his education receiving his teacher certification from the University of Dallas. He completed the requirement for his Doctorate at Seton Hall University in January 2009.
Dr. Sorrells spent over 20 years in management positions with Southwestern Bell. He has been actively involved in the community through the Governor's appointment on the State Board of Podiatry Examiners, Board of Directors of the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors of the White Rock Lake Foundation, multiple civic and political organizations. Rick is the immediate past Chairman of the Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Sorrells is the father of four children: Ryan a law school student at Texas Wesleyan, David a recent graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas, and twins Meredith and Michael, who are in the tenth grade this school year. His wife Margaret is a teacher for the Dallas Independent School District
