SALARY RANGE:  $38,130.72 - $46,494.98 (Commensurate w/ Education & Experience)

Primary Purpose:

To interpret, implement, monitor and report on the status of DCS’s safety programs.  Formulate and implement appropriate corrective safety measures in response to district losses.  To train employees in the safe operation of a school bus, school bus equipment, student management.  To respond to and investigate accidents, injuries and losses sustained by DCS. 



  • High school Diploma or equivalent (ex: GED)
  • Current Texas School Bus Driver medical examination
  • Current DPS certification for School Bus Drivers
  • Current Texas Class “A” or “B” Commercial Driver’s License, with “P” and “S” endorsement with the only accepted restrictions being “A”, “I”, “J”, “K”, “M”
  • Driving record with 3 or less penalty points
  • Good attendance record

General Knowledge/Skills:

  • Professional business communication and interpersonal skills both oral and written
  • Use appropriate decision making and problem solving techniques
  • Proficient typing, word processing, and file maintenance skills
  • Effective organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases and word processing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, management, and the public
  • Ability to perform all the physical, intellectual, and analytical requirements of the position including decision making

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Certified School Bus Driver Instructor
  • Exceptional communications, public relations and interpersonal skills
  • Possess thorough knowledge of DCS and it policies
  • Able to communicate both verbally an in writing
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Dallas County Schools
  • Computer skills and experience using MS Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills
  • First Aid, CPR, Defensive Driving, General Safety (OSHA 29 CFR 1910)
